The launch of the QASA computer training and employment projects saw a celebration on Friday 30th May at the Rod Colenbrander Resource Centre.
The two projects, a collaboration between QASA, Microsoft and the Alexander Forbes Community Trust, will provide computer training and employment solutions to the disability sector in KwaZulu-Natal.
Two groups of people with disabilities have ‘graduated’ from the basic computer literacy course over the last two weeks. Most trainees had never used a computer before and were overjoyed at the opportunity. Those who had some computer knowledge were
also delighted that they could improve on their computer skills.
As part of the training, the candidates were assisted in writing a CV. Their CVs have been made available to several recruitment agencies that partnering with QASA in finding employment for persons with disabilities.
QASA is excited about this positive start in meeting the challenge of upskilling and finding employment for 60 people in KwaZulu-Natal, in 6 months.
