Disabled greats, Bernie Sorour and Graham Fuller (Big G) passed away recently.
Graham was paralysed at age 19 (almost forty years ago) in a car accident. His disability did not prevent him from becoming one of Durban’s best known architects.
Bernie contracted polio in 1956 when she was 13 years old and within 2 years she became a volunteer at APD Free State. She was an excellent volunteer, fundraiser and ambassador for disability in South Africa and was instrumental in creating a more accessible Free State. You can thank her for your disabled parking discs!
They will both be missed.
