The community of Hermanus cares about people with disabilities and is inviting all Vaalie rollers to visit the town this summer and enjoy the sand and the sea from the seat of Grotto Beach’s new beach wheelchair.
Grotto Beach is the only location, from the fairest Cape to wind swept George to have one of these unique wheelchairs that are so easy to push over sand. The project was launched by the Hermanus Access for Citizens Committee with financial assistance from the Woman’s Agricultural Union and the Overstrand Municipality.
The chair can be used by the elderly and people with disabilities who want to spend a day on the beach with friends or to splash in shallow waters.
Proof of identity and a home address is all that is needed for free use of the chair.
