The 2009 Biennial Occupational Therapy Association of South Africa (OTASA) Congress will be held in the friendly city of Port Elizabeth. The Congress will take place from 30 June to 03 July ’09 at the historic Feather Market Convention Centre in the heart of the city.
Early registration gives delegates a chance to attend the Congress at a much lower fee of R2450. This early registration closes on 31 March 2009, so start registering today! Accommodation has been blocked booked with special rates made available for Congress delegates.
The 30th of June sets off the Congress by giving delegates a chance to register early and, for the 1st time attendees, a special introductory session will be hosted to assist delegates in making the most of the congress experience.
The Congress will not only be an educational experience but also a place to meet and interact with colleagues and discuss professional challenges, growth and changes, as well as making some good contacts within the profession.
The Congress will be CEU (Continuing Education Units) accredited and delegates will be able to obtain various points for the sessions they attend. During the three days the Congress will focus on the theme “Waves of Change”. The sub themes are:
Day 1: Enabling participation and the changes that occupation has brought to practice
Day 2: Changes in the delivery and focus of Occupational Therapists in South Africa
Day 3: Innovation and change in Occupational Therapists practice
Two social functions are being planned, where delegates will have the opportunity to share in the presentation of the Albie Sachs award at the AGM Cocktail function and the Vona du Toit Memorial Lecture at the Gala Dinner.
With Prof Gail Whiteford as the Congress Keynote speaker delegates are sure to be in for a very enlightening congress. South Africans who have had the opportunity to meet her respect Gail for her energy, insight, sense of humour and warm interpersonal approach. Delegates will also have the pleasure of listening to Lana van Niekerk who is a well respected Occupational Therapist in South Africa and internationally.
