The third annual SABAT Power Wheelchair Race, which took place at the Kyalami circuit on 24 September 2005, was won by Jannie Louw. Jannie won a R3000 voucher from CE Mobility, who also sponsored the trophies and prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.
Speaking at the event, QASA National Director Ari Seirlis, said the association is proud of an ongoing relationship with SABAT Batteries who empower quadriplegics by supplying those who use battery powered wheelchairs with a set of batteries per annum.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for quadriplegics who use battery operated wheelchairs to re-generate their adrenalin, and test their track skills. Most of the entrants have very little or no use of their arms and hands and here is an event which allows them the chance to compete and go for glory. SABAT has invested in the mobility for quadriplegics in South Africa and the race is a celebration of this,” he added.
And away they go!
